One evening, on his way back home, he saw a deer grazing with her young one by her side. He chased them and caught the young one. He tied its legs and laid it on the horse back. Then he turned back towards the city. Sabuktagin looked behind and saw the deer who kept following him sadly. Sabuktagin was so much moved with pity that he stopped and untied the fawn. Then he let it go free. The fawn quickly ran to its mother. The mother who was overjoyed, ran to join her young one. They both then went back to their free life in the woods. The mother deer kept looking back at Sabuktagin with her eyes full of gratitude and love. The same night Sabuktagin saw an angel in his dream.

The angle said to him, “O, Ameer Sabuktagin! The mercy you have shown to the poor, helpless animal this day has pleased ALLAH. Your name has been included in the list of kings. You will, therefore, one day be a king. And when you become a king, be merciful”. Sabuktagin rose to great power, afterwards.

He married the daughter of the king of Ghazni. After the death of the king of Ghazni, Sabuktagin became the king himself as the angel had told him in his dream. Sabuktagin’s kind deed was rewarded by ALLAH in a very nice way.
