THE FASTEST FLYING BIRDS is the ‘White throted Spinetail Swift’s which can fly at speeds upto 175 kms per hour. The nixt fastest is the Swallow which can fly at about 160 kms per hour. BIRDS WHICH CANNOT FLY are the ostrich, Kiwi, Cassowary, etc. Penguins also use their wings for swimming instead of flying. THE BIRDS WITH LONGEST WINGSPAN is the Albatross.

These birds fly over the oceans and feed on fish. Their wingspans are between 3 and 3.5 meters from one wingtip to the other.
A BIRD OF PREY hunts other smaller animals for food, these birds like the Eagle and Hawk, have large hooked beaks for eating and sharp talons for hunting.

BIRDS SING to attract birds of the other sex for mating or for sounding an alarm to defend their nest. NIGHT HUNTING BIRDS are Owls which have very good vision at night and exceptional hearing. They largely hunt small animals like rats which come out at night. DUCKS KEEPO AFLOAT because their outer feathers are water proof and so closely packed together that they help in maintaining the right buoyancy. They also have flat and webden feet which help to paddle in water.
PEACOCKS RAISE THEIR FEATHERS to attract female peacocks, called ‘peahens’, for the purpose of mating.
